Rise & Shine. . .

So, I finally got to the project that I've been waiting to do for forever!!!!!! I've had this canvas just all ready to redo, and I was SO excited to have a free night. We are redoing our little bathroom, and I decided that it needed some decor. This project was just splendid and was actually super easy! So, here are a couple supplies: A canvas of your choice (I got mine at a thrift store for $3! What a deal!), some letter stickers, Modge Podge, vintage book pages, and of course lots of paint brushes!
Now, let's get creative! Yay!
Cut off the rough edges of the book paper that you torn out of an old book. Coat the top of the canvas with Modge Podge (p.s. this stuff is lovely!), and then place the papers on top like this. Then the will stick better for the next step. After you stick the pages to the canvas, put Modge Podge all over the top of the papers as a glue layer. It will eventually dry very nicely and create an amazing surface to paint on! Let the first coat of Modge Podge dry for 15-20 minutes. Then apply another coat of Modge Podge, leave this for about 15 minutes also. After it dries you'll be ready to get your stickers!
One of the things you do have to accomplish is figure out what you want your canvas to say. I chose "Rise&Shine" because it is going in the bathroom, and in a house full of girls, we all get ready in that bathroom in the morning! So, i thought it was appropriate since we all go in that room every morning! Arrange your saying just as you like it, and then press the stickers down firmly. You don't want paint to accidentally get under them.
Next you get to paint all over!!!!!!! Do several coats to make sure that everything is even (especially around your letters). Then while the paint is WET carefully peel back the letters. It gets messy! So be careful.
This is what mine looked like when I completed it!!!! Isn't it a cute decor item?!? I love love love how it turned out. Happy painting, have fun with this easy project!
